Hey! My name is Gert-Jan van der Wel. I'm 41 years old, Dutch, married and have three little kids. I co-founded Floorplanner and I'm currently transitioning from running the technology dept to the sales dept. In between family and work, I like to ride my road bike whenever I can.
Here I share what I'm up to and working on at the moment. I aim to update it every few weeks. If you want me to send you an email whenever I wrote something new, you can sign up here.

I became less of a hodler as I sold a chunk of my crypto portfolio, mainly Bitcoin. I didn’t invest it in other crypto though. I did the very unsexy thing of paying off a part of my mortgage. The main reason is that I don’t like having a huge debt, even if the government (weirdly) incentives me to keep my debt by offering tax discounts. It was a bit of a hassle to get the money where I wanted it to be. First I had to transfer the Bitcoins from my Airbitz/Edge mobile app to the Kraken exchange. There I could sell it for Euros and send it to my bank account and from where I had to transfer it again to my mortgage bank account.
